Aimee Nezhukumatathil is an American poet and essayist known for her vivid, nature-focused writing and explorations of identity, culture, and belonging. She was born in 1974 in Chicago to a Filipino mother and an Indian father, and she grew up in several different states, which influenced her sense of place and perspective in her work.

Nezhukumatathil is the author of several acclaimed poetry collections, including Oceanic (2018), which won the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters Award. She gained widespread recognition for her bestselling essay collection World of Wonders (2020), a series of lyrical pieces that connect observations of the natural world with personal stories about race, beauty, and resilience.

She has also served as the poetry editor for SIU Press and teaches creative writing, helping inspire new generations of writers. Her work is celebrated for its rich imagery, accessibility, and its ability to blend scientific curiosity with emotional depth.
